Animation - Incisor Angle and Airway
The animation update this month shows how incisor angle can affect jaw position and constrict the airway.

Upper incisor inclined at 15 deg |
Upper incisor inclined at 5 deg |
Upper incisor inclined at -5 deg |
The four snapshots above show increasingly steep or rearward inclined incisors.
This causes the jaw to take a more rearward position resulting in a constricted airway and TMJ problems.
With an occlusion summit in Brazil this month, at which my business partner Dr. Don Reid was presenting, it seemed a good month to take onboard a suggestion from Dr. Roberto Nasacimento Maciel, one of Don's co-presenters at the conference. Thank you Dr. Maciel for your help in producing this month's animation! |
